SYMPATHY EXPRESSION

The definition of sympathy expression: Sympathy expression is an expression or feeling of pity and sorrow when we know and see someone or people are unlucky or have trouble and in bad condition. By expressing sympathy we want to show our concern or carefulness on other people’s condition. How can we give sympathy expression to someone? We express it directly to him/her orally or we can use a letter or card by post also by short message service (SMS), e-mail, television, radio, and newspaper if he/she who got the trouble is far from us. Several expressions of sympathy : - I’d like to express my deepest condolences - I’m sorry to hear that - I’m awfully sorry about… - Oh, how awful! - Oh, dear! - You must be very upset - Oh, what a shame - How pity you are! - How terrible / awful for you

Simple Present Tense

Untuk menyatakan suatu pekerjaan , peristiwa , atau kejadian yang telah terjadi hari ini , atau perbuatan yang terjadi saat ini , atau kejadian yang berulang kali atau merupakan suatu kebiasaan sehari- hari.

Rumus :1. S + To be ( am, is , are) + ….
2.S + V1 + (as / es ) + ….
Example :
1. She is very happy.
2. He is diligent student.
3. They are there.
4. You are student.
5. He goes school every morning.
6. She does her homework.
7. Barra cooks in the kitchen.
8. They study English every week.
9. You can come to my house.


a. Verbal Sentence
Patterns :
(+) S + V1 (s/ es) + O
(-) S + do/ does + Not + V1 + O
(?) Do / does + S + V1 + O

Example :

(+) She does her homework.
(-) She does not do her homework.
(?) Does she do her homework ?

b. Nominal Sentence / Non Verbal Sentence
Patterns :
(+) S +To be (am / is / are ) + ….
(-) S + To be (am / is / are) + Not + ….
(?) To be ( am / is / are ) + S + …. ?

Narratibe text is to tell something in the past. The purpose is to entertain, created/stimulated emotion, motivate, guide and teach

Example :
Legend : Malin kundang, Lake toba
Fable : Birds and snake, etc
Fairy tale : Snow white, Cinderella
Horor : The wall, House of the death
Sciencefiction : Alien
The generic structure of narrative text :

Orientation : The setting of the story :
The starting point of a narrative story to make readers understand what the story`s talking about
Describing the main character of the story
Complication : The problem raises in the story

Resolution : The thing happens after the problem raised

Babu and the Lion
         One day, there was a slave whose name was Babu. His master was very, very bad. You know, he often punched Babu and did not offer him food for days. Poor Babu! So he escaped into a forest and slept in a cave.
         Next morning, he heard a loud roar. In front of him...., at the mouth of the cave..., was a very big lion. You see, Babu was scared to death! Kind of scary, isn’t it? But he could not escape. But the lion didn’t attack him. It was tame. There was a large thorn in its right front foot. The lion looked at Babu. It seemed to say something like:”Please help me. It’s very painful.” Babu walked bravely to the lion and pulled out the thorn. Babu and the lion turned out to be friends.

 Invitation is the invitation given by one person to another to attend an important event, such as birthday, anniversary, birth of children, school graduation, separation, and the anniversary of the company or agency.
